Kelly Delancy-Fowler
Bahamian author Kelly Delancy-Fowler, along with her husband Drew Fowler, began writing children’s books in 2020, inspired by their son’s early love of reading. Both born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas, Drew and Kelly wanted books that showcased the beauty of their island home. They saw an opportunity to create stories that their son—and other kids—could relate to, filled with scenes and characters from the Bahamian landscape right from the start.
A Background Rooted in Bahamian Culture
With over a decade of experience as an archaeologist and museum educator at the National Museum of The Bahamas, Kelly has always been passionate about teaching kids. After years of educating children about the natural world, she decided to share that knowledge in a way that kids could enjoy and learn from at home.
The Fowler Family's Engaging Children’s Books
Sleepy Heads: This exciting book is an interactive bedtime story for young children. It features animals like the Abaco Parrot and flamingo settling down in their habitats. Kids can play along with the story using the die-cut eyeholes and a QR code links to videos and fun animal facts. A portion of the proceeds supports Friends of the Environment on Abaco Island.
Auntie Love: This colorful book celebrates the special bond between an aunt and her nephew. Inspired by the couple's son Klay and his aunt, this heartfelt story highlights the value of family connections. It honors aunties in their role as playful and supportive caregivers to their young nephews, nieces, and godchildren. The hardcover edition includes coloring pages for creative fun, and proceeds help support the Bilney Lane and Elizabeth Estates Children’s Homes. Available at Logos Bookstore in Nassau and on Amazon.com.
My Friend, Uncle: In My Friend, Uncle, the second book in the family series, the authors focus on the unique relationship between a nephew and his uncle. Like Auntie Love, this story is based on their oldest son Klay’s bond with his uncle. Proceeds from this book also support local children’s homes. Available at Logos Bookstore in Nassau and on Amazon.com.
