Applicant

We believe every applicant has what it takes to write an amazing story. If you're interested and meet our requirements, we have a place for you here.

For Applicants Under 18

Students under 18 should inform the Head of their Language Department of their interest. They should also get written permission from a parent or guardian. Homeschooled applicants can be guided by their teacher, parent, or guardian.

What You Need to Do

  • Write an original short story, or choose from topics in your grade category.
  • Submit your story in digital format—typed, saved as a Word doc, and emailed to us.
  • Ensure your writing is in standard English, free from typos and errors.
  • Include the name of your school (or if homeschooled) and your island.
  • If accepted, provide a photo of yourself and your work for our site.

Story Guidelines

Write a short story—comedy, adventure, or drama—you decide. Use dialogue and write in the first or third person. Draw from your experiences, but avoid naming or presenting real people negatively.
